Good afternoon,

This week in math we focused on fact families. We did two art projects-ask your child about them! In science we started talking about materials we use to build things-asl you child what some materials are. Next week we will build!

In writing, we focused on story writing. Our goal by the end of grade 1 is to write a simple story with a beginning, middle, and end. with details. We are excited to get our creativity flowing!

On Monday, I will send home spelling tests and mad minutes from the past two weeks so that you can see where your child is at.

MAY 16 FIELD TRIP FOR MS. OVERDEVEST AND MS. OLIPHANT/PORRIT'S CLASS

We will be going on our first field trip on May 16, 2022 to Ralph Klein Park. The students will be participating in a full-day program called Mud Between My Toes to support their learning in our Needs of Plants and Animals science unit. We are in need of 5 parent volunteers for each class to join us on our fun-filled day!

As a volunteer, you will be expected to be at the school at 8 a.m. sharp and we will arrive back at the school around 2:20 p.m. This will be a hands-on experience and we will need you to guide a small group of students during the activities. To volunteer, you must have completed your CBE police clearance. Please call the office to ask whether or not your clearance is still valid or if you need to complete one. If you are available for this date and would like to join us, please email your child's teacher.

Thank you for all of your support!
